‘Ralphy’s Lucid Moon Review Poetry Website e-magazine
is the supermarket of the Gods!’ --
Michael Basinki, Curator of the Small Press / Rare Books Library at the Univ. of Buffalo, NY.

Ralph Haselmann Jr. was born on October 4, 1965 and lives in the lush rolling green hills of Morristown, NJ. Ralph received a BFA in graphic design from Mason Gross School Of Arts at Rutgers ( New Brunswick, New Jersey) in 1990. He proceeded to paint houses for 11 years after school because it paid much more He edited,, pasted up, photocopied, stapled and mailed out the monthly poetry and cartoon magazine Lucid Moon from January 1997 to October 1999 in much the style of the late Wally Berman. It grew to 300+ pages and a circulation of 150. The aim was to get as much good poetry out there as cheaply as possible, with a sense of humour, playfulness and fun. Ralph was named Editor Of The Year in 1997 by Cedar Hill Review, who called him the Hardest Working Editor In The Small Press. Ralph appeared in the International Who's Who In Poetry 9th Edition, 1999 and The 2000 Outstanding Intellectuals Of The Century, 2000, both elected positions chosen by The International Biographical Centre of Great Britain. He now edits the critically lauded Lucid Moon Review Poetry Website, www.lucidmoonpoetry.com ) which has been called the best poetry website on the internet, a valuable resource for poets, and is highly rated by Google

Roy Smith of Dark Horse Reviews says of Ralph's poetry, "Haselmann writes with a certain melancholy--but with it he offers hope--because of his belief in the natural goodness of Humankind. His faith in emotions--and delight in exposure of the soul--is a reminder that romanticism is very much alive and well." The University At Buffalo, New York now includes a copy of each issue of Lucid Moon in its Poetry/Rare Books Library Collection, something Ralph is very proud of and excited about.

Ralph's magazine Lucid Moon has published many poet and artist luminaries in the small press such as Ana Christy, Antler, Dorothy Jesse Beagle, Janice Blue, Charles Bukowski, Pascal Carpentier, Dave Church, Daniel Crocker, Steve DeFrance, Steve Dalachinsky, elliot, Allen Ginsberg, Kevin M. Ralph also has a cartoon book for sale called So You Want To Be a Cartoonist?! It contains over 300 hilarious cartoons drawn over a 15 year period, 1990 – 2000. It will hopefully be published by AuthorHouse in 2004.

Ralph had two weekly two hour radio shows on Berkeley, California performance artist Frank Moore's Luver Radio (Love Underground Visionary Revolution): Ralphabeat Radio was on Tuesdays from 5-7 pm EDT, featuring conversation, music and poetry readings with friends Dave and Ana Christy from Alpha Beat Press, New Hope, Pennsylvania, and Lucid Moon Potpourri was on Thursdays from 6-8 pm EDT, featuring legendary rock music, classic comedy albums or poetry readings. Check out the other great shows as well. You can access Frank's Luver Radio sight from my Other Cool Web Site List on the Lucid Moon home page, listed above. The Luver address is www.luver.com. You need to download Real Player audio for free from the Luver site. It takes 40 minutes to download and it will then be in your computer from then on.

Ralph played tennis in high school, likes to read poetry and novels, collect cds, and listen to music. He has a lifetime Third Class Broadcast license he received in 8th grade. Being an underground internet dj has been an exciting route instead of going with boring playlisted commercial radio stations. Ralph likes modern, classic and alternative rock, a little classical, blues and jazz and r&b thrown in for good measure. He likes such groups as The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Doors, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Cream, Eric Clapton, The Allman Brothers, The Yardbirds, Led Zeppelin, The Who, Yes, Fleetwood Mac, Frank Sinatra, Charles Aznavour, Neil Diamond, Barbra Streisand, Eva Cassidy, Aretha Franklin, Otis Redding, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Terence Trent D'Arby, Bruce Springsteen, Melissa Etheridge, Tracy Chapman, Peter Gabriel, The Pretenders, Beck, Bob Dylan, U2, Pearl Jam, REM, The Pogues, B.B. King, Aerosmith, Black Crowes, and Stevie Ray Vaughan. Ralph worked for 18 years as a house painter and paid for his collection of 2000 cds.

In October 2001, Ralph was in a horrible, serious, near-fatal car accident, which left him paralyzed below the waist and in his right writing hand. Ralph is not wallowing in anger or self-pity, rather he is rededicating his life to promoting and publishing the works of others and himself. Remarkably, he can type with an adaptive keyboard and use a mouse pad to work on his website. Ralph is a member of The Writer’s Bridge, a group which will help place his writings in magazine markets that will pay him. Ralph is a proud member Peta, not People For The Ethical Treatment Of Animals, but the other one, People Eating Tasty Animals! If you would like to reprint his writings or correspond with him, he can be reached at: ralphylucidmoon@yahoo.com , www.lucidmoonpoetry.com. You can contact Ralph Haselmann Jr. at the above addresses and phone number for more info on his poetry magazine, books and broadsides, cartoon book, radio shows and web site. His Lucid Moon Review Poetry Website and Newsletter are his free gifts to the world!

In December 2002 Ralph added a quarterly newsletter consisting of color cartoons by me on the cover, contact information, different quotes each issue praising my website drawn from my guest books, a Message from Ralphy, poems, short stories, articles, interviews, and book review. You can print out the newsletter every three months, staple it, pass it around, and collect em all! You might want to print the cover on thick stock paper and slap a blank thick stock paper on the back so your newsletter is more durable. This newsletter is Ralphy’s free gift to the world.

In April 2004 Ralph moved into what he hopes will be his permanent residence, a nursing home in Morristown, NJ. Ralph had been a wandering nomad, going to 5 nursing homes in the three years since his car accident in 2001. Ralph thanks his parents and sisters for buying him a high speed computer. He is seriously thinking of learning web design, so he can maintain he site, save a ton of money, and he won’t have to put up with temperamental web designers.

In Aril 2005, Ralphy continued to completely overhaul the site, deleting outdated material, and adding a color cartoon to each page.

And the Beat goes on….
