Website established in 1999.
Background Information: Lucid Moon Poetry Magazine originally ran in photocopied form from 1997 to 1999 . My first year out as editor, in 1997, I was awarded Cedar Hill Review's Editor of the Year Award, and was named The Hardest Working Editor In The Small Press. The magazine was wildly popular, and many people said they read it from cover to cover. I was very democratic as an editor and gave everyone a chance, from high school beginner poets to famous poets, including Arthur Rimbaud, Allen Ginsberg, Jack Micheline, Charles Bukowski, A.D. Winans, Gerald Locklin, and Ana Christy. I also published such well-known poets in the underground small press as Kevin M. Hibshman, Dave Whitacre, joe r., Wayne Wilkinson, Gary Jurecka, H. Lamar Thomas, Sharon McNulty, Ed Galing and Ralph Haselmann, Jr. I also published such famous underground illustrators as Michael LaBash, Norman J. Olson, Ade Deville, Claudio Parentala, LMNOP, Ed Galing, Adam Winnicky, Nina Bogin, Barb Yordy and Ralph Haselmann, Jr. I had 150 paid subscriptions, but the magazine was too expensive, often reaching over 300 pages so I ceased publication at the end of 1999.

I launched the critically lauded Lucid Moon Review Poetry Website in 1999, immediately after the magazine folded. It has been called the best poetry website on the Internet and has been also called a valuable resource for poets, and has been rated highly by Google. In 2003, I added several more poetry columns to the website for a total of 11 different poetry columns. I launched my Lucid Moon Review Poetry Review Newsletter in 2002 to draw on writings from myself and others. My website is my free gift to the world,.

I have had to discontinue the newsletter in the newsletter section because it was too big, at 40+ pages, too expensive, and too time consuming .It ran for three years. I don’t like reading computer screens, I like holding and reading magazines. The idea for the newsletter was that you could print out the newsletter every three months, staple it, pass it around, and collect em all! You could print the cover on thick stock paper and slap a blank thick stock paper on the back so your newsletter is more durable. Now that I am in the process of archiving all 12 issues, you can print out them all at your leisure. It’s another way of viewing the site. The material appears elsewhere on the siite. I wanted a do - it - yourself publication, but it was too much work. I’ll just update the homepage every quarter with a new color cartoon and message, and a new article, book review or interview in the archives. Everyone will just have to think of the entire website as an interactive newsletter Continue adding your best poems to the poetry columns.

Website Submission Guidelines: The guidelines for my poetry website are listed on the individual poetry column areas on the website. Please do not send snail mail, disc, or email website submissions, because all of the poetry columns have been converted to guest book areas. You can type in or copy and paste your best poems directly into the seven public poetry columns.

When you submit your poem, you will automatically be sent a bulk email confirmation where you will be asked to click on a link to confirm your submission, and your poem will be added to the website. This measure was added to each column to prevent spamming and unwanted messages. At the end of very month, I will remove objectionable poems. Please proofread and edit your poems before you finalize your submission.

I have added several new poetry columns to my Lucid Moon Review Poetry Websitewww.lucidmoonpoetry.com . The seven public poetry columns up now are: Your Poetry Page; Moon Beams (moon themed poems); A Few Poems A Day Keep The Psychiatrist Away (topical poems); Poetry Essays and Lectures; Dissect A Poem (when you go line by line and tell what you were referring to); Quotable Poetry Quotes and Jokes About Art, Literature, Music and Poetry. You can enter one poem per column per week.  At the end of every month I will remove unwanted entries.  So be on your best behavior because I want grade school and high school students to be able to view this material without running into offensive material.

I absolutely do not want simple-minded high school beginner poetry, but I will take the more thoughtful poems from high school students. I also do not want indecipherable experimental poetry, or annoying religious poetry. I am looking for a mix of heartfelt, romantic love poetry; underground Beat poetry, humour, moon-themed poetry and poems with references to pop culture, and references to other poets, musicians and artists. Cursing and sexual themes are ok as long as they aren't gratuitous or obscene. Simultaneous submissions and previously published work are ok; often that is the best stuff.

Article, Book Reviews, Interview and Short Story Guidelines: Send submissions by email as an attachment, not in the body of an email, where they tend to get broken up. Do not send submissions by snail mail. You will be under no pressure to meet a deadline. You can send the columns monthly, bimonthly or quarterly or whenever you have the time. If you have the time, you can compile several columns and send them. For Interviews write (the name of the person being interviewed), interviewed by (your name) in 18 point Ariel bold type. Then write a secondary headline if needed Then write the words Lucid Moon Review Poetry Website. Then skip a line, and write an introductory paragraph or bio of the person being interviewed in 12 point unbold ariel type, skip a line and then the interview. After the interview, skip a line and write a 3 to 6 sentence bio of yourself, then skip a line and write your contact information (your snail and email addresses), and write the sentence 'if you want to reprint this, please reach me at my email address'. Then skip a line and write © Copyright (the year) (your name) and Lucid Moon Review Poetry Website (www.lucidmoonpoetry.com .

For the book reviews, it's basically the same, whether it's one long review or several short paragraph capsule reviews. Simply write the title of the book or magazine or whatever being reviewed in 18 point bold ariel type, then underneath in 12 point unbold type, write your name and the month and year and underneath it Lucid Moon Webste www.lucidmoonpoetry.com in12 point unbold type and then skip a line and then the author, publisher, year, number of pages, price plus postage, if its a magazine then write the single copy and subscription price, write who to make check out to, address to order from, then review, bio, contact information, reprint info, and copyright info..
We will split the cost of having my web designer post your article, interview, review, or short story in my archives. My web designer charged $40 an hour to post a document, and it might take 15 minutes to post it, so that website, so that will mean $% for you and $5 for me. I think that it is only fair that we split the cost

I look forward to reading your book reviews and interviews and I think they will add an impressive dimension to my site. Follow the same basic format for articles, columns, essays and short stories. You can cut and paste the info at the bottom of your first column into your next.

Advice: keep cursing and sexual situations to a minimum because I'd like to have grade school and high school students view this material. Let your poetry pen sing, dance and soar! Check out my Lucid Moon Review Poetry Website every week for new poetry postings, and please sign my guest book. I will have new monthly messages and announcements on both my homepage and in my guest book to keep you informed about all my projects.
